Physiology of ageing, cellular senescence and carcinogenesis – Faculty of Science, Charles University
The goal of the course “Physiology of ageing, cellular senescence and carcinogenesis” (MB150P62) planned for undergraduate and postgraduate students is to provide recent knowledge about mechanisms of maintenance of genome integrity, DNA damage response including DNA repair, cellular senescence and cell death, cell cycle control during DNA damage, role of DNA damage in initiation and progression of malignant diseases and during aging of organism. Furthermore, an overview about mechanisms of ageing with specific attention to cellular senescence and its role in pathogenesis of age-associated diseases, current curative modalities to treat ageing manifestations and inherited diseases arising on the basis of defects in mechanisms of DNA damage repair.
