The Microscopy Centre offers a wide range of state-of-the-art light and electron microscopy equipment and techniques. The core facility extensively uses the cooperation with industry to continuously develop the new methods and upgrade the available tools.
The centre provides services to both the local researchers and external users. The centre is also active in organizing the training and the courses focused on theoretical and practical aspects of basic and advanced microscopy techniques.
The Microscopy Centre coordinates implementation of the project “National Infrastructure for Biological and Medical Imaging (Czech-BioImaging – LM2015062)“ funded from the program for large research infrastructures of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.
The Centre operates the hub of the Czech-BioImaging infrastructure and functions as a secretariat of the Czech-BioImaging steering and advisory bodies, maintains Czech-BioImaging website and database, and coordinates all Czech-BioImaging activities, e.g. user access, training, joint projects.
The Centre also coordinates and provides logistics support to the Czech-BioImaging node at the Institute of Molecular Genetics AS CR, which groups the Light Microscopy Facility and the Electron Microscopy Facility.
The Microscopy Centre coordinates Czech participation in the pan-European research infrastructure project
Euro-BioImaging. Currently, the centre is actively involved in Euro-BioImaging interim board and in the Horizon 2020 project Euro-BioImaging Preparatory Phase II. Furthermore, the centre represents the Euro-BioImaging in the Horizon 2020 project Reseach Infrastructures Training Programme.
The centre is the Euro-BioImaging Node Candidate “Advanced Light Microscopy Node Prague CZ”, which composes of the imaging facilities of the Institute of Molecular Genetics AS CR, the Institute of Physiology AS CR, the Institute of Experimental Botany AS CR and Charles University in Prague (BioCeV).
The IMG Centre of Microscopy consists of two facilities:
- Electron Microscopy Facility
- Light Microscopy Facility
- How to properly acknowledge the IMG Microscopy Centre
(Light and electron microscopy core facility)
The Microscopy Centre is supported from the project LM2015062.
