Identification of C/EBPα regulators in granulocytic differentiation

We have identified upstream and downstream regulators of C/EBPα, a crucial transcription factor that regulates granulocyte differentiation and is affected in a large percentage of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cases. Understanding the regulatory networks of C/EBPα is important for the development of new therapeutic strategies for the treatment of AML. [pubmed] [doi]

Dissecting the molecular mechanisms regulating emergency granulopoiesis

We have elucidated how haematopoietic stem and progenitor cells contribute to the overproduction of granulocytes during granulopoiesis activated under stress conditions (e.g. acute infection). We have also identified new molecules involved in these mechanisms. [pubmed] [doi]

Detrimental effects of chronic inflammation on haematopoietic stem cell (HSC) fitness

By several projects in our laboratory, we have contributed to the understanding of how chronic inflammation alters the properties of haematopoietic stem cells and how it is harmful to them.
