Transmission Electron Microscopy in Life Sciences

  • Date & Time: 11. 6. 2012 - 15. 6. 2012
  • Location: IMG Building

The course is intended for beginners to mid-advanced users of transmission electron microscopes in biomedicine.

The course is intended for beginners to mid-advanced users of transmission electron microscopes in biomedicine. It will devote about equal time to the theory and to practical use of microscopes. The participants should understand after the course the principles of TEM construction and function, should be able to align the microscope for optimal performance, to identify and eliminate most common aberrations and alignment artefacts, to understand the principles of image formation in TEM, and the optimal ways of image acquisition. The participants will be also given an updated information about best ways of sample preparation for TEM, and recent TEM trends in biomedicine. The course will be in English.
