Factors involved in cellular communication in the tumour stroma

We are part of a long-term project focusing on cellular communication between components of the tumour microenvironment in squamous cell carcinoma and skin cancers. We have described interactions between cancer-associated fibroblasts and malignant cells. [pubmed] [doi]

AmtDB – a database of ancient human mitochondrial genomes

We have developed and maintain a key platform for population genetic studies – the AmtDB database of ancient human mitochondrial genomes (amtdb.org). This provides other research groups with access to data that can be used to track ancient demographic events. [pubmed] [doi] [AmtDB]

Link between asexuality, hybridization and speciation

We have been involved in research on hybrid sterility in fish, namely European spined loach, and various songbird species (including the nightingale). We concluded that hybrid asexuality may indirectly contribute to the speciation process. [pubmed] [doi]
