Ústav molekulární genetiky AV ČR, v. v. i. (in English commonly referred to as “The Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Czech Academy of Sciences”), with its registered office at Vídeňská 1083, 142 00 Prague 4 (hereinafter referred to as “IMG”), has established the position of ombudswoman. Her goal is to provide employees with trustworthy and independent support in situations that may disrupt the culture of behaviour at the workplace, threaten their sense of security, or interfere with their personal dignity.

The main role of the ombudswoman is to mediate situations that may negatively affect working relationships or the atmosphere at the workplace. It is not her place to judge people’s behaviour or decide on the matter itself. Her mission is to find an acceptable and fair solution for all parties involved.

The ombudswoman is completely independent of the Institute management and is bound by a confidentiality obligation in the performance of her duties. All complaints are handled with the utmost discretion and consideration for the sensitivity of the situation.

When to contact the ombudswoman?

You can file a complaint in cases of suspected inappropriate behaviour at the workplace, especially if it involves:

• unequal treatment,
• violence,
• bullying,
• harassment,
• coercion,
• intimidation,
• hateful or defamatory statements,
• other conduct that may be perceived as an affront to dignity.

Given that perceptions of these situations can be subjective, it is possible to contact the ombudswoman even in cases of doubt. Submitting a complaint does not entail any obligation to take further steps – the first meeting may take the form of a non-binding conversation, which may or may not lead to a subsequent resolution.
