About

The core facility operates instruments for functional genomics and provides next-generation sequencing and single-cell transcriptomics services including consultations on project considerations and experimental design. The laboratory also performs primary bioinformatical analyses. The service is provided to the research groups at the Institute, to other academic institutions and also to commercial entities.

The core facility is equipped with an Illumina NextSeq 500 next-generation sequencer and Oxford Nanopore Minion Mk1b sequencer, two single-cell technologies (10x Genomics Chromium Controller and Bio-Rad ddSEQ), two real-time PCR cyclers (Roche LC480), droplet digital PCR system (Bio-Rad QX200), two legacy microarray platforms (Affymetrix GeneChip System and Illumina BeadStation 500) and an EnVision Plate Reader from PerkinElmer. The laboratory also operates instruments for assessment of the quality and quantity of processed samples (Nanodrop spectrophotometer, Qubit fluorometer, capillary electrophoreses Agilent Bioanalyzer 2100 and Agilent Fragment Analyzer 5200). Two ultrasonicators (Covaris ME 220 and Bioruptor) are available as shared equipment.

The core facility is an integral part of Laboratory of Genomics and Bioinformatics.

Facility Access Policy

Access for internal users

An internal user of the Service Laboratory of Functional Genomics and Bioinformatics is any user of laboratory equipment who is an employee of IMG.

To use the services of the Service Laboratory of Functional Genomics and Bioinformatics, the internal user must have a user account in the system for managing user identities in the img.cas.cz network with the right to login to computers in the service laboratories.

Registration procedure

Log into the Calpendo reservation system at IMG. If you want to use the services of the Service Laboratory of Functional Genomics and Bioinformatics (FGB), register in this laboratory according to the instructions on the Register facility page.

Access for external users

An external user of the Service Laboratory of Functional Genomics and Bioinformatics is any user of laboratory equipment who is not an employee of IMG.

To use the services of the Service Laboratory of Functional Genomics and Bioinformatics, an external user must have a user account created in the identity management system in the img.cas.cz network with the right to login to computers in the service laboratories.

Registration procedure

If you are already a user of the Calpendo reservation system at IMG and want to use the services of the Service Laboratory of Functional Genomics and Bioinformatics (FGB), register in the laboratory according to the instructions on the Register facility page.

If you are not yet a user of the Calpendo reservation system at IMG, proceed as follows:

To establish access to the services of the Service Laboratory of Functional Genomics and Bioinformatics, register via this link.
Please fill in the form and provide all the necessary information about your employer, your contact details and the contact details of your supervisor.
Submit the registration request by pressing the Submit button.
Acknowledgment of receipt of the application will be sent to your email address and your application will be processed by the staff of the Service Laboratory.
The reservation system and services of the Service Laboratory of Functional Genomics and Bioinformatics will be available to you as soon as you obtain access data and registration in the Service Laboratory will be confirmed by your supervisor. You will be informed about the progress of the approval process via email.
Service laboratories may, in justified cases, cancel an external user’s access to their services.
