Pluridisciplinarity at work: from next generation DNA sequencing to next generation therapeutics

Scientific breakthroughs often emerge at the intersection of disciplines. This presentation explores how transdisciplinary thinking contributed to the conceptual inception of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and now inspires a new generation of therapeutics.

After revisiting key innovations behind the emergence of NGS and the often-overlooked Lemanic roots of its development, the talk focuses on a novel AI-driven approach to drug discovery developed at Alphanosos. Based on network polypharmacology, this strategy uses synergistic mixes of edible botanical extracts to discover safe, effective, and sustainable therapeutic solutions against infectious agents and oncological and complex disease conditions.

By connecting biophysics, genomics, artificial intelligence, and systems biology, this presentation highlights how cross-disciplinary innovation may help rethink drug development and pave the way toward safer and more effective medicines, and potentially a fast therapeutic response to emerging infectious threats.
